Designer Spotlight: 3.1 Phillip Lim S/S 2011 Collection

3.1 Phillip Lim is one word ... AMAZING! How can you not love his S/S 2011 collection? Simple and feminine; sheers weren't just plain sheer (some had stripes, polka dots and embellishments, others peaked out under layers) and a variety of colors perfect for Spring! The shoes, the bags, luxurious looking fabrics, oh how I wished I was sitting front row at this show!

I wish a Phillip Lim insider can give a me price tag on some of these pieces, because I need to know how much I need to save to get some of these!

Wondering if I can make sky blue work for me...

This trench coat is sheer genius!

The pattern just draws you in, simple yet complex!

Doesn't this remind you of a doctor's bag? (from the time when doctors made house calls)

The shoes in this collection just have to be highlighted, I've never felt a greater urge to go shoe shopping! lol

If I sound nauseatingly exicted over clothes, it's because I am! When I reached the end of the slideshow for Lim's collection, I cried "It's over? Nooooo!" LOL Nudes mixed with classic blacks; pant suits that are tailored perfectly to accentuate a woman's body, Lim is definitely a favorite of mine! I was so upset that I couldn't go into his store during Fashion's Night Out in NY because his block party was blocking his front door! >.<>
I rate this collection 5/5 runways! Perfection!

I finally found another collection this season worth loving! Who's with me?

Designer Spotlight: Derek Lam S/S 2011 Collection

Chinese-American designer Derek Lam is known as a minimalist when it comes to his designs, but personally I find him absolutely wearable; meaning I would walk onto the runway, grab it right off the model and wear it! Again we see more of the wide legged trousers and whites that we've seen all week except with cleaner lines.

You can never go wrong with a strong print for the summer

Looks like the 60s are back!

I like fitted clothing so those are the ones I decided to feature. Very casual and perfect for work, I really hope Derek considers doing a collaboration line with Ann Taylor; now that would be a match made in fashion heaven!

I rate this collection 3/5 runways!

Do you prefer simple and wearable or unique and Gaga-like? Let me know in the comments below!

Designer Spotlight: Thakoon S/S 2011 Collection

Thai designer Thakoon revealed a collection mixed with all the trends we've seen so far this fashion week; sheers, nude tones, whites, mixed with pops of color and prints. Heads up, it's gonna get nippy in here...

loving the poofy shorts!
Reminds me of a very ethereal nightgown
Officially adding metallic jacket to my list of must haves!
I rarely see snake prints around since everyone is so into leopards, so this was quite refreshing to see!

I kind of wished he had done something this cool in his collection for Target. But alas, the price of non-collab designer goods will always be unreachable for me >.<
Photo Credits go to Zimbio, check out the rest of Thakoon's collection here.

I rate this collection 4.5/5! I almost liked everything I saw!

What are your thoughts on the SHEER trend for next year? Would you wear just a bra under it or do need a tank top?

Designer Spotlight: Prabal Gurung S/S 2011 Collection

I have honestly never heard of designer Prabal Gurung (Singaporean-born, Nepal raised) until a friend of mine mentioned him to me. And then I saw a video clip of celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe visiting his studio and praising him as one of the best new designers, so I just had to check him out and feature him on my blog!

Creativity at its best. It looks exquisite!

I would've made this cut above the knee but otherwise, I adore the floral ruching (pronounced rooshing) on the top.

I love that he didn't stick completely to the nude trend and went with some bright colors to liven up his collection. I think he's definitely got some skills and has a very unique and modern way of designing cocktail dresses. I really hope he gets more recognition in the years to come because I think he has what it takes.

I have yet to find a collection that can beat out my favorite Jason Wu, Have you?

Designer Spotlight: Vivienne Tam S/S 2011 Collection

(I know I'm jumping from Alexander Wang to this! Such a huge difference, but what can I say I have a very open mind and a taste for everything awesome! :P )
Finally an Asian Female Designer! haha Vivienne Tam used an array of pretty florals in whites, creams and blues in her collection (looks like Viv got the color memo) and while I'm not a huge fan of the Boho style on some of the dresses, I really enjoyed all the lace and crochets!

The hobo bags (or as my Asian mother calls them Chicken bags, because people in Asia buy their chickens alive and put them in bags like that LOL) complimented the Boho styled collection

Is it just me or is this model looking kinda slouchy?

I just love really girly clothes! (I previously interned for Rebecca Taylor so I grew a love towards florals and ultra feminine prints.) A lot of the clothes in her collection just make you want to travel, especially the dress in the second pic, perhaps it's the feel of summer I get from it. Whatever it is I am yearning to hop on a plane to Spain or Italy.

Photo Credits go to NYMag, go to their website for the rest of the collection.

I rate this collection 4/5!

Are you guys loving the colors (or non colors) being used for next season?

Designer Spotlight: Alexander Wang S/S 2011 Collection

WOW, there is no black in an Alexander Wang collection?! What is this season doing to all the designers? LOL Just a mass of white, nudes and pale greens; I think I can get used to this.

I am loving this vest!

Apparently this was based off the idea of a girl doodling on her cast.

The metallics definitely livened up the pool of whites.

No one does unique structured jackets the way Alex does.
I think someone took a trip to the Statue of Liberty and got inspired ;)

Very flowy and the lace up boots are perfection!

Even though there wasn't any black, if was very obvious that it was an Alexander Wang collection because no one else (in my opinion) can design a downtown style collection the way he does. I love how everything is loose fitting but in no way oversized. I really hope he considers doing a low-end collection sometime soon, I want a piece of Wang in my closet!!!

Do you miss the black from Alexander Wang?
