Raid My Closet Saturdays

I don't know how you girls have time to take OOTD pictures, especially the girls who post everyday! Props to you gals! The lighting in my house is horrible and this past April has been raining everyday! -___- booo
~~~~~~~
The first weekend of April I went on a roadtrip to DC to check out the Cherry Blossom Festival, lucky for us they were in full bloom, unlucky for us it was raining on and off :T But I still managed to have a great time and did a little shopping while I was there :D
Banana Republic coat, F21 jeans, Bass boots, Coach purse
Jacket, GAP white tee and espadrille wedges, Bongo jeans, scarf from Hong Kong
I don't think I'm meant to wear cropped boyfriend jeans, I looks a bit chunky :T Oh well, they're from my high school years when I had fatter thighs; off to the donation bin they go!
Banana Republic blouse, GAP white tee, Uniqlo capri pants, Bass wedges
The Banana Republic shirt used to be my mother's but it shrunk in the wash and so I decided to tie it and turn it into a crop top; perfect way to not let shrunken clothing go to waste ;D
Custom clutch, Anne Klein rose gold watch, H&M belt
H&M tie front top, GAP cardigan, Uniqlo jeans, Chinese Laundry booties, Purse from Hong Kong
I recently got these cute heart hoop earrings from WinsomeCreations.etsy.com
I like them so much, it's sweet, subtle and chic; if I could buy her whole store I would! I enjoy shopping on etsy.com and flea markets for one of a kind or unique jewlery pieces from up and coming jewelry designers. Something about handmade jewelry that makes the piece all the more special.
I was thinking these are actually perfect for my mom for mother's day...hmm to keep for myself or give to mom?... Nah, I'll just treat her to dinner these babies are mine!!! haha
Asian Celeb Weddings
With the Royal Wedding just days away, everyone seems to have marriage on the brain. It suddenly feels like EVERYONE I know is getting engaged/married/preggers, and I am just standing still - 23, single and lonely. But enough about me and how my mother thinks I'm going to die alone, weddings are happy for everyone, even the lonely bridesmaid! Here are some of my favorite wedding looks in the Asian Entertainment Realm:
Miriam Yeung and Real Ting secretly got married in Las Vegas and waited a few months to hold their ceremony in Hong Kong. Miriam's layered ruffle wedding gown was designed by Carlo Pignatelli. As for the traditional Chinese wedding dress, she went for a gold rather than the traditional red qi pao.
Christine Fan And Blackie Chen are sealing the deal after 11 years of courtship with a fancy wedding this May! Can't get over the sweet lace detail on Christine's dress and coordinating veil.
'Meteor Garden' star Barbie Hsu and millionaire Wang Xiao Fei held a private wedding ceremony last month on Hainan Island, China. Barbie's dress is very top heavy but the corsetted waist keeps it from being frumpy.
This year's best actress Carina Lau married previous best actor Tony Leung after 20 years of dating! I don't know if I could ever wait 20 years for a man, but with their busy lives it's somewhat understandable. The pair got married in Bhutan, bringing public awareness and tourism into the country. Carina wore a flower appliqued Vera Wang gown for the western style wedding and later changed into a Bhutanese style dress.
Daniel Wu and Lisa Selesner got married last spring in a forrest in South Africa! I love the simplicity and uniqueness of their wedding and Lisa's gown wasn't overly frou frou, very befitting of the setting.
Korean actor Jang Dong Gun married his sweetie Ko So Young (wearing Oscar De La Renta). I love her dress, the top part is kept simple while the bottom is adorned with large white flowers.
Actors Jeon Hye Jin and Lee Sun Kyun tied the knot last year. I love how the lace on her dress continues into a cape on the back, something different from the usual wedding gown style.
When Kelly Chen married her boyfriend of 13 years she did so in extravagance, appearing in a 10 meter long train with 999 peonies sewn on the dress. A gorgeous wedding dress but she probably needed like 20 bridesmaids to carry her train!
Kelly Lin marries boyfriend Chris Young in the Maldives. I really like the sweetheart neckline and the subtle one shoulder look.
Patty Hou got married in a Vera Wang gown. I'm a sucker for anything with a bow on it and that peach bow waistband on her dress had me sold on this dress!
I think everyone thinks about their wedding day at least once in their life. Don't know if I'll ever get married since keeping long term relationships are really hard for me. But just for the sake of this post I decided to search for the perfect wedding dress for myself...
If that day ever happens for me, this is what I would like to wear:
Vera Wang Frieda dress - strapless organza dress with a sweetheart neckline - $a bijillion dollars
Christian Louboutin Crystal shoes -$3,200, but look how those babies sparkle like a Twilight vampire!
But this is probably what I'd realistically wear:
-this ivory colored gown with a sweetheart neckline is listed as a bridesmaid dress but I think it would be perfect as a simple Spring/Summer wedding dress, because honestly who, other than the bride would wear white to a wedding!
Tom's Silver Glitter Shoes - $54 -still got the sparkle I want but 100 times more comfortable and affordable! Just better hope the groom isn't a giant!
So ladies, what would your ideal wedding gown look like?
Fashion at the Beijing International Film Festival
The first ever Beijing International Film Festival officially kicked off on Saturday, April 23rd and Asia's biggest stars went to support the event!
Jackie Chan and Zhang Ziyi, the official image ambassadors of the Beijing Film Fest. I really like the top part of Ziyi's dress but the dangling flowers have got to go! If I was there I'd just yank them off her dress!
Always a style icon in my heart, Fan Bing Bing in a Tadashi Shoji dress (Fall 2011 RTW), keeping things simple yet so chic with a high ponytail and minimal accessories.
Close up of Bing Bing's accessories
Singers Miriam Yeung and Leon Lai both make an appearance in black ensembles.
Actress Tang Wei looked completely different from her look at the HK Film Awards, but still looked equally as good in this floral printed dress. Not sure if curly hair is a good look for her though...
Zhang Jing donned a diva-ish strapless gold and black dress
The drapery on Wang Ning's dress is just impeccable and she looked absolutely stunning in it
Mary Ma blended in with her surroundings but stood out at the same time in this blood red number
Director Rob Minkoff and his wife Crystal Kung in a feather duster 0_o I know there was a screening of the Black Swan at the festival but you don't have to go there dressed like one! lol
Annie Wu opted for an emerald green dress, this season's hottest color.
Huang Yi oozed glamour in this rose collared gown
Which Fashionable Asian rocked the festival's red carpet? Let me know in the comments below!
Award Show Fashion: 30th Hong Kong Film Awards
This years 30th Annual Hong Kong Film Awards (Asia's version of the Oscars) was met with April showers and a flurry of stars in gorgeous white and cleavage bearing gowns. A pic heavy post of both elegance and disaster lies ahead; you have been warned...
Tang Wei rocked this red-orange tiered Escada gown with a sleek updo and sparkly jewels
Angelababy looked like a princess in this simple yet elegant white tiered chiffon gown. The mermaid style created the perfect silhouette for the actress/model.
Janice Man's white frock won her best dressed of the night by the HK Film Awards. I found it a bit simple but love how she played it up with the accessories (she wore this really cool gold snake bangle that I just LOVE).
Carina Lau showed up on the red carpet in this stunning beige Versace halter dress and dripping in over $70million HK dollars worth of Cartier jewelry.
Carina Lau looking less drenched and gorgeous in her second dress of the night after winning her award for Best Actress.
Kara Hui looked ravishing in this white silk/lace gown
Zhou Xun chose to wear a short strapless fringed Chanel, possibly the smartest dressed celebrity since everyone else was dragging their gowns, which probably weighted a ton after getting wet from the rain
JJ Jia kept things simple and girly in this belted pink strapless number
Angelica Lee's white Dolce & Gabbana dress with floral and lace print turned a number of heads on the red carpet for it's sheerness
Jia Huan Chen matched her costar with a gold trimmed dress
Esther Kwan looked elegant in this emerald dress with a '60's do to match
Kate Tsui looks rather frail in this teal bust flattening frock
Chrissie Chau will use any excuse to show off her cleavage in this custom black dress with embellished crystal straps
Miriam Yeung popped a pose in this 3-Dimensional black dress specially flown in from France for her by Stephane Rolland. This dress just puts all other black dresses to shame!
Michelle Yip stepped out in this black frock that accentuated the waist while unfortunately flattened the bust area
Lin Peng in a Black Swan inspired dress, would've been great if someone sponsored a sparkly necklace for her, just the dress looks like its missing something..
Gigi Leung always plays it safe and keeps things simple and sleek
Singer Kay Tse brought some color into the mix with this bright blue strapless gown
Josie Ho daringly wears a deep-v purple Haider Ackermann gown accessorizing with a small gold clutch
Winner for Best Dressed Male, Daniel Wu brings his newly signed artist Zi Qi Huang Ella Koon's gorgeous pale orange dress became a mop as she walked the rain soaked red carpet
Cecilia Cheung tries to cover her suspected baby bump in this loose Jonathan Saunders gown (if she wasn't 'pregnant' she would've belted it, but that's just my theory), while her husband Nicholas Tse looked absolutely dashing in all white and ready to win best actor.
Fiona Sit looked fresh and youthful in a floral dress
Angie Chui channels Lady Gaga in this pointy shouldered sparkler
Wei Gan failed to dazzle in this purple tulle ballerina dress
Ding Ding Sa in an ethnic dress that probably weighed a ton! It looked great as a performance outfit but not so much as a red carpet look
YuChun Li's Jean Paul Gautier outfit looked a bit too casual for an elite award show
I love Helen To's travel series, but I am far from in love with her haircut and the top part of her dress looked like it was sewn on at the last minute
Chow Yun Fat and his banana, I mean wife. There is a reason us yellows can't wear yellow especially for an entire outfit, it washes us out and that top just made her look wider than she really is. Oh dear she's wearing mismatched shoes, please don't make that a trend!
Look everyone, Jackie Chan is alive! But seriously that was a horrible joke saying he died, just because he isn't doing things in Hollywood doesn't mean he's fallen off the face of the earth! He did an awesome job raising money for the victims of the Japan quake.
