Fashionable Asians at the 2011 Emmy Awards

I've always wished there were more positive Asian women to look up to on American television growing up but unfortunately, Asian roles are slim pickings in Hollywood. But things are slowly changing as more and more Asian women are starring in our favorite TV shows (such as Glee, Nikita, Hawaii Five-O, etc) Now we just have to work on them getting nominated and winning awards :D All da Asian Ladies, All da Asian Ladies, now put your hands up! :P

Jenna Ushkowitz usually opts for very feminine gowns so I was surprised to see her in something different and edgier with this asymetrical Ghadah gown. The Glee girl looked glam and completed the look with a croco printed red clutch and a high Audrey bun.
TV personality Olivia Munn looked very tan and fab in this emerald green Carolina Herrera gown, too bad they forgot to steam it; wrinkles at 6 o'clock!
Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi rocked this Armani Prive gown, the design is nice and fits her like a glove but the gold color didn't make her stand out much since it blended in with her skin color.
Dancing with the Stars' judge Carrie Ann Inaba showed up in a what looks like simple black gown from afar but up close you can see an intricate black floral design, she completes the look with a red clutch for a pop of color.
Best Supporting Actress nominee Archie Panjabi from The Good Wife, opted for this green Angel Sanchez dress with a sweetheart neckline as she kept her hairstyle simple in a slicked back bun and accessorized with a silver clutch.

Which Asian lady was your fave at the Emmys?

Fashionable Asians: Who wore it best?

I saw a couple of similar looks this week between the Asian celebs and Hollywood celebs, so I decided to do a Fashion Face-off

The Pom Pom Top
Angelababy vs. Nicki Minaj
Sorry Nicki, but Angelababy rocked this look in the movie Love in Space way before you did at NY's Fashion Week this week.  It's a loud look that not everyone can pull off but I think Baby's top looked better because Nicki's made her look a like a football quarterback with the wide shoulder pads (or rather pom pom pads).

The See-Through Lace Dress
Yuan Li vs. Lady Gaga
Remember the last Award Show Fashion I posted with Yuan Li's "Oh no she didn't just leave the house like that" lace dress, well, Gaga probably felt inspired by her look and did the same exact thing earlier this week. I might be a prude (or just a lady) but I feel self conscious even if my underwear peeps over jeans a little LOL This is not a look for everyone, obviously.

The Plaid Dress
Qin Lan vs. Emma Watson
I actually like how they each styled the similar black and red plaid dress with a voluminous skirt. Qin Lan kept it simple with black tights and a gold chain necklace while Emma brought out the rocker in her by adding a black leather jacket.

Who do you think wore it best?
And should I do more of these Asian celeb vs. American/European celeb posts?

Fashion's Night Out NY 2011

Different Year, Same Event.  Even though Fashion's Night Out was on a Thursday this year, it didn't keep the fashion and celebrity loving crowds away! Soho, New York was packed and the lines to get into stores got so out of hand that the po-pos started "closing" the store (I'm talking about DASH- yes people went nuts for the Kardashians, I was rolling my eyes the entire time haha).

I met up with Natali from Forever Bachelorette, so if you follow both our blogs, you'd realize we have similar blog posts about FNO, because we basically hung out together all night! lol She's new to NY so my friends and I really enjoyed showing her around.

OMG is the man in the window display for sale? haha HOTHOTHOT
Got my makeup done at the Guess store by NYX Cosmetics
Outfit of the Night:  F21 top, H&M pants, Lee Angel necklace, Coach purse, AK NY watch
Sipping delicious apple cider while waiting on line to take the picture below (3 times lol)...

My friend got a picture with Sofia Coppola at the Marc Jacobs store...sort of...
Girls walking around with shoes on their heads @_@
Our final stop of the night was Longchamp, where we snacked on macaroons, sipped champagne and posed with this season's latest bags. Like my cheesy leg flip there? haha ;)
Finally, we ended a long night with a delicious dinner at the Chinatown Brasserie in Noho

Did you go to FNO? How did your night go? Leave me your FNO blogpost below!

Tokyo Girls Collection Autumn/Winter 2011

I swear, one of these days I will fly my butt over to Japan to attend one of the Tokyo Girls Collection fashion show! What I love about TGC is the variety of clothes they display, the accessibility and affordability of the items and how it is not like your typical runway; the models are happy and energetic and the atmosphere is like you're at a concert. This season's TGC theme was "Smile for _____," the ____ is for you to fill in and the concept behind the theme was to help those ravaged by the earthquake and tsunami back in March to regain some courage.

Here are some Fall/Winter trends that I took note of and some of my favorite outfits from the show!

Plaid is still a must have this season, the classic Brawny man look gets another season to update!

Colors for fall: Red-Orange and Mustard hues, these warm, rich shades reflect the beautiful changing colors of the leaves

A timeless print, Polka Dots aren't just black and white anymore!

The must have animal print this season would have to be Leopard, you can go bold with a fur coat or subtle with a leopard printed shoe or scarf, whatever you choose it would go great with anything as long as it has that neutral camel tone.

Lace can bring a girl from prim and proper to sexy and scandalous; what kind of lacy girl are you?

Ever since watching Korean drama Secret Garden, I have been obsessed with finding the perfect Cape Coat, and I have...and they're in Japan -__-

It's not a Autumn/Winter collection without some fabulous Furs
[It isn't TGC without an appearance from model Jonte Moaning!]

Almost every collection at this show had girls in Colorful Tights in every color of the rainbow:

Which trend are you gonna be rocking this A/W season?
