Tokyo Girls Collection Spring/Summer 2012

If you've been following my blog since the beginning you know that I always blog about the Tokyo Girls Collection every season and if you didn't know well, now you know! TGC is the biggest collab of Asian fashion in one place featuring clothes from Liz Lisa, Cecil McBee, Beams, etc. This season all the collections followed the theme of "Sherbet Garden," so one can expect lots of pastels, florals and rainbows and sprinkles, ok maybe not the latter but something close to that!

Bold Prints
Bold patterns and prints make for a very eyecatching runway show, my favorite is the black and white dress with the leopard print that fades into a herringbone pattern.

Floral Prints
Florals are a must have for every girly girl's spring wardrobe and this season's TGC offered a variety of flowers to choose from.

Minty Greens
It's not a garden without some greenery, this soft pastel color will be a huge trend color this spring and can be paired with just about every color of the rainbow. Try colorblocking mint green with a bolder color for a sharp look, such as...

Bright Red
Bright reds are a must for red hot summers. Wear it alone or wear it with other colors for a fresher look.

Statement Skirts
Unlike the photo on the far right (above) keep the top fitted and muted to really pull off a big and poofy statement skirt. With this outfit keep everything minimal and just let the skirt do all the talking!

Tokyo Girls Collection Autumn/Winter 2011

I swear, one of these days I will fly my butt over to Japan to attend one of the Tokyo Girls Collection fashion show! What I love about TGC is the variety of clothes they display, the accessibility and affordability of the items and how it is not like your typical runway; the models are happy and energetic and the atmosphere is like you're at a concert. This season's TGC theme was "Smile for _____," the ____ is for you to fill in and the concept behind the theme was to help those ravaged by the earthquake and tsunami back in March to regain some courage.

Here are some Fall/Winter trends that I took note of and some of my favorite outfits from the show!

Plaid is still a must have this season, the classic Brawny man look gets another season to update!

Colors for fall: Red-Orange and Mustard hues, these warm, rich shades reflect the beautiful changing colors of the leaves

A timeless print, Polka Dots aren't just black and white anymore!

The must have animal print this season would have to be Leopard, you can go bold with a fur coat or subtle with a leopard printed shoe or scarf, whatever you choose it would go great with anything as long as it has that neutral camel tone.

Lace can bring a girl from prim and proper to sexy and scandalous; what kind of lacy girl are you?

Ever since watching Korean drama Secret Garden, I have been obsessed with finding the perfect Cape Coat, and I have...and they're in Japan -__-

It's not a Autumn/Winter collection without some fabulous Furs
[It isn't TGC without an appearance from model Jonte Moaning!]

Almost every collection at this show had girls in Colorful Tights in every color of the rainbow:

Tokyo Girls Collection Spring/Summer 2011

Tokyo Girls Collection - The biggest fashion show in the East just wrapped up another successful season, with over 23,000 people in attendance, 24 collections and live streaming on Youtube for the first time ever! The thing I love most about TGC is that unlike fashion shows in NY, Paris, etc, the runway at this show is like a dance floor at a club, the models are all smiles and the atmosphere is carefree, relaxed -not a show that Anna Wintour would enjoy but everyone is there to enjoy the clothes and music (K-pop group 2PM performed this year). Those lucky enough to be close to the stage even get a chance to catch and keep the accessories that the models throw out into the crowd! It is my dream to be able attend a TGC show one day, they always look like so much fun ;P

Uniform fashion [aka JK fashion] has been really popular in Japan the past couple of years, thanks to a J-pop girl group called AKB48. The school girl style has given Japanese girls a creative outlet so that no two 'uniforms' are ever alike. They even contests to see who can create the most kawaii and unique school girl looks.

The perfect casual everyday summer look: a flowy skirt, loafers and a boyfriend blazer

Bows will never go out of style

Loving this different take on the maxi dress!
The summer safari look for the city gal with wedge shoes and a lace coverup.

I predict that this is the only time socks with sandals would be accepted! But if I see anyone wearing socks with crocs, I will create a wall of fashion shame for you on my blog!!! This is how you mix classic and nautical styles together, kawaii ne~

Exactly what I'd like to wear to a picnic at the park

Sexy Minnie Mouse Librarian look? Oh, who cares what it's called, it's super kawaii!
Strappy wedges are undeniably THE shoe to have this summer!

Native American / Tribal style? The prints and patterns and feathers just screams New Mexico desert to me; road trip anyone?

Florals are always a must for a Spring/Summer collection, but FRUITS? I'd be more impressed if there were real fruits on it and the model pulled them off to eat as she walked/danced on the runway lol

I wants to play Twister ON him ;P

Looking at this collection makes me feel like summer can't get here any sooner!!! There were over 80 models, plenty of great outfits that I didn't feature so click here to see what else was shown at TGC!
What summer trends are you looking forward to?
